i hate running...

so yeah, my church friends had this grand idea to train for a half marathon and asked me to join. stupid me said yes, so for the past 2 weeks i've been running my little tail off. in fact, i just got off the treadmill at work. so i'm sitting here in a ball of sweat, still breathing hard, writing my blog. i just ran 4 miles. longest distance since i started. go me. i told them that i would give training 1 month, and if i still hate it at the end of a month, i will quit. but for those who know me, i'm a insanely competitive person, and i don't quit. so i have become a masochist (how do you spell that?) and i run about 5 times a week, anywhere from 2 to 4 miles a day.

why am i running a half marathon, you ask? well, i thought since i ran cross country in high school, what's 13.1 miles? well, i also forgot that it was 8 years ago that i was running 6-7 miles a day. and even then, i hated it. i guess it's one of them life feats that i want to accomplish. i figure that i'll never run a full marathon, i'm not that ambitious. so half that would be good in my books.

so even though running a marathon is far from my life goal, i have a fun question for my blog of the day: what one thing would you like to accomplish before you die? for me, it's not run a half marathon. but it's one of little things i would like to check off in my life time. is it hike all the 14'ners? go to disneyland? see the seven wonders of the world (or is there 8?)? i would LOVE to hear your answer....

Hey Kathy,
Your blog is cool, even if you are a first timer. I have set one up for the Mash family so people will be able to see our new addition when he or she comes. I need to figure out how to put pictures on. You should too, so we can see you and Jordy and your life in AZ. That is awesome about Klarissa. God does work in amazing ways and blesses his faithful servants! Good luck with your training. I just got my latest Runner's World in the mail today and I am newly excited about starting to run again when I don;t have a baby inside of me. I want to run the New York Marathon in 2007. If you get the bug, keep training and we can do it together! Later, Natalie

you can do the New Times 10k in November with me and Kira! That's onls a little over 6 miles, which is totally doable. Shoot, if you can run 4 miles, you can run 5. And if you can run 5 miles, you can definitely run 6 no problem. And those last little .2 miles hardly even count, so it'll be no sweat. Oh, and we never talked about those stretches for my knee last Sunday. Of course, assuming I ever was able to stop the pain, I'd have no excuse to not be doing the 1/2 marathon in January...

Kathy!

Welcome to the world of blogging. It IS a lot easier than sending mass emails.

That is great! Good luck with your marathon.

I just started running myself a couple of weeks ago. My goal is to run the Bolder Boulder. ACK. So, we can pray and root for each other.

Be sure to check out my blog...I have been doing it for sometime now.
